THUGGERY:Thugs Invade Church, Attack Pastor, Members, Steal Offering

Scores of thugs reportedly, invaded the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Pillar of Fire, located at L.A. primary school area of Akure , the Ondo state capital, at the weekend during service, flogged the pastor known as Pastor Arije and other church members.

Besides that, the hoodlums who reportedly stormed the church on motorcycles, were also said to have destroyed some other items inside the church which include, plastic chairs, wall clock, window glass and electrical appliances among others after the members had run away for safety.

LEADERSHIP gathered that policemen who came to calm the situation arrested some of the hoodlums but were attacked by the mob who consequently rescued the arrested thugs.

According to the eyewitness account, during the attempt to rescue their colleagues from the hands of the policemen, one of the cops was stabbed on the neck with a broken bottle by one of the hoodlums.
A source, however, told LEADERSHIP that a rival pastor of one of the churches within the area, might have sponsored the attack.

Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Wole Ogodo, said details of the incident was still sketchy since the incident happened over the weekend.

The PPRO also said the command was still investigating the reason for the action of the hoodlums.
