2014 Was The Year Of The Booty

When you’re looking back at 2014, literally look back at it.

This year, the audiences of the world feasted their eyes on the precious posteriors of the day’s celebrities.
Nicki Minaj didn’t just grace our ears with “Anaconda,” she gave our eyes a party when she showed us how she abuses her underwear on the album artwork for the song.

Then the music video came out and I’m just going to assume you’ve seen it already. As we discovered: milkshakes do not bring boys to the yard, but the buns just might. The internet was adorned with millions of new memes depicting Minaj’s album cover. It took another Hollywood fame, however, to truly “break” the internet.

In November, Kim Kardashian chose to reignite the spark in her celebrity. Several years after vowing to “never go naked in front of a camera again,” Kardashian showed us the (oiled-up) junk in the trunk on Paper magazine’s front cover. Not everyone may have been happy, but they all had something to say.

Kim brought to the spotlight what had been subtly building up in American culture. The obsession with the ass has been shown in countless other venues this year that people chose to not bitch about.
The music industry certainly hasn’t escaped from the booty epidemic’s rise in popularity. In fact, many might argue it’s what brought ass to the forefront of American culture in 2014.

Jason Derulo’s “Wiggle” and Meghan Trainor’s “All About that Bass,” both top ten songs in 2014, and even Amber Rose’s dress at the 2014 VMAs (just Google it) are all examples of how the music industry has accepted the new trend of booty du’jour.

Combined the with the new movement of accepting people for who they are (no matter the size…), “All About that Bass” uses the sexuality of the butt to entertain audiences.

Even the chick who still thinks we’re buying the whole good girl virgin act good girl Taylor Swift tried to squeeze every last drop of relevance twerking has by incorporating shots of some fat rear ends bouncing around in her music video for her hit single “Shake It Off.”

As for Jennifer Lopez and Iggy Azalea? They didn’t even try to be subtle when they creatively named their song “Booty.”

In review: the year has been one of sexual freedom. Women learned to (finally) strip themselves bare (below the waist). Here’s to seeing which part of the body women have to exploit for you to like them in 2015.
